Vehicle Compatibility
This DME may be suitable for selected BMW 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series and X5 vehicles equipped with a compatible Bosch ME9.2.2 petrol engine-management system.
Listed applications include selected BMW 540i E60, 550i E60 and E61, 650i E63 and E64, 740i E65, 740Li E66, 750i E65, 750Li E66 and X5 4.8i or xDrive48i E70 models.
Compatibility depends on the vehicle production date, engine specification, market, transmission, emissions equipment, Bosch number, BMW part number, DME reference, hardware version and software calibration.
Please compare Bosch number 0261209352, BMW number 12147600923, DME reference 7586909 and all additional label information with the original module before purchasing.
Other Bosch ME9.2 or ME9.2.2 control units may look identical but contain different hardware, software or security data. Related part numbers should not be treated as direct substitutes unless compatibility has been professionally confirmed.
Coding and Programming Requirements
Professional programming, coding or ECU cloning is normally required when installing this DME into another vehicle.
A used replacement module must be matched to the receiving vehicle's CAS immobiliser system and security information before the engine will start correctly.
Depending on the chosen replacement method, the original DME data may be cloned onto the replacement unit, or the replacement ECU may need to be reset and programmed with the correct VIN, immobiliser information, software calibration and vehicle coding.
A DME-CAS adjustment, adaptation reset and diagnostic fault-code clearing may also be required after installation.
An unmatched used module from another vehicle should not be considered plug-and-play. If the original ECU is professionally repaired and reinstalled into the same vehicle, additional immobiliser matching is not normally required.
Installation Information
Professional installation by a BMW technician or qualified automotive electronics specialist is strongly recommended.
The vehicle should be diagnostically tested before replacing the DME to confirm that the module is responsible for the fault. Power supplies, earth connections, wiring, sensors, actuators and communication networks should also be inspected.
The original DME should remain available whenever possible because its software, coding and security information may be required for cloning or programming the replacement unit.
A stable vehicle power supply should be used during programming. After installation, the vehicle should be scanned and tested to verify correct starting, engine operation, immobiliser authorisation and communication with related control modules.
