PRORAM Performance Intakes & Air Filters Australia
PRORAM is the performance-focused pleated filtration range from Ramair, combining high-flow synthetic filter technology with vehicle-specific induction systems and universal filters for performance applications.
Our PRORAM range is focused on European performance vehicles, with dedicated intake kits for popular Audi, BMW, MINI, Volkswagen, Škoda and other platforms alongside universal cone filters for custom intake installations. Whether you want a complete bolt-on induction upgrade or a high-flow filter for your own intake design, PRORAM provides a more focused performance solution than a standard replacement filter.
Choose Your PRORAM Upgrade
Performance Intake Systems
Complete vehicle-specific induction upgrades.
PRORAM intake kits replace restrictive sections of the factory intake with a high-flow pleated filter and application-specific components designed around the engine bay.
Depending on the application, kits may include heat shielding, intake pipework, hoses, brackets and the hardware required for installation.
Universal Performance Filters
High-flow pleated filters for custom intake systems.
PRORAM universal filters are available in multiple neck sizes and configurations for custom fabrication, modified vehicles and performance applications where a dedicated intake kit is not required.
Select the filter according to inlet diameter, available space and the airflow requirements of your setup.
PRORAM Performance Intake Systems
A dedicated PRORAM intake kit goes considerably further than replacing the filter element inside the factory airbox. These systems are designed around the individual vehicle and replace selected factory intake components with a freer-flowing induction path.
Many PRORAM kits combine a large pleated performance filter with a powder-coated heat shield designed to separate the filter from surrounding engine-bay heat. Depending on the application, revised pipework and other vehicle-specific components may also be included.
The objective is straightforward: reduce unnecessary intake restriction, increase induction sound and provide greater airflow capability for standard and modified engines.
Vehicle-specific engineering also removes much of the guesswork associated with building a universal intake. Mounting points, filter position and supplied components have already been designed around the intended platform.

PRORAM Pleated Performance Filters

PRORAM filters use a pleated synthetic nanofibre filtration medium designed to combine effective filtration with a large available surface area and high airflow capability.
The pleated construction is fundamentally different from the foam filtration used across much of the traditional Ramair range. Increasing the effective filter surface area allows PRORAM to package substantial filtration area into a compact cone-filter design.
Universal PRORAM filters are offered in different inlet diameters and physical sizes, making them suitable for custom intake fabrication, modified vehicles and applications where the original airbox has been removed.
Some versions also incorporate velocity-stack style inlet designs aimed at producing a smoother transition into the intake tract.
Why Upgrade the Factory Intake?
More Than Just Intake Noise
A performance intake is often noticed first because of the stronger induction sound, particularly on turbocharged engines. But the more important engineering objective is reducing unnecessary restriction between the outside air supply and the engine or turbocharger.
As engine output and airflow demand increase, the benefit of improving restrictive factory intake components can become more relevant.
Part of a Complete Performance Package
An intake system can be fitted to many otherwise standard vehicles, but it also makes sense as part of a broader performance package where higher airflow is required.
For tuned turbocharged vehicles, intake upgrades may be combined with ECU calibration, intercooling, turbo inlet improvements and exhaust modifications according to the requirements of the particular engine.
Dedicated Intake Kit or Universal Filter?
Choose a Vehicle-Specific Intake If...
- A PRORAM kit is available for your exact vehicle or engine.
- You want a complete, engineered installation rather than fabricating pipework yourself.
- You want stronger induction sound and a larger change from the factory intake.
- You want supplied heat shielding and mounting components where included.
- The vehicle has or may receive additional performance upgrades.
Choose a Universal Filter If...
- You are designing or modifying your own intake system.
- You know the required filter neck or inlet diameter.
- A dedicated kit is not available for your application.
- You need a particular filter size for a fabricated or motorsport installation.
- You already have suitable intake pipework and mounting arrangements.
Choosing the Correct Universal PRORAM Filter
A universal performance filter should be selected by its dimensions rather than simply by vehicle model.
Check the Inlet Diameter
Measure the outside diameter of the intake pipe, MAF housing or inlet the filter will mount to and match this to the specified internal diameter of the PRORAM filter neck.
Some PRORAM filters are designed to fit over a rigid inlet rather than directly onto a soft silicone hose, so check the mounting arrangement of the individual product before ordering.
Check the Available Space
Filter base diameter, overall length and surrounding clearance all matter. A larger filter may provide more filtration surface area, but it still needs to fit securely without contacting hot, moving or vibrating engine components.
Consider the entire intake layout, including cool-air supply and heat exposure, rather than selecting a filter solely because it has the largest possible dimensions.
PRORAM Intake & Air Filter FAQ
What is PRORAM?
PRORAM is Ramair's performance-focused range of pleated synthetic air filters and induction products. The range includes vehicle-specific intake kits and universal performance filters for road, modified and performance applications.
What is the difference between Ramair and PRORAM filters?
Much of the traditional Ramair range uses performance foam filtration, while PRORAM is centred around pleated synthetic nanofibre filter media. Both are performance filtration products, but the construction and filtration medium are different.
What is included with a PRORAM intake kit?
The exact scope of delivery depends on the vehicle. A typical PRORAM system includes the performance filter and vehicle-specific mounting or heat-shield components, while some kits also include intake pipework, hoses, adapters and additional hardware. Check the individual product listing for the exact contents.
Do PRORAM intake systems increase induction sound?
Yes. Replacing the enclosed or restrictive sections of a factory intake generally makes induction and turbocharger sounds more noticeable. The actual change depends on the engine and the design of the original and replacement systems.
Will a PRORAM intake increase power?
A performance intake is designed to reduce intake restriction and improve airflow capability. The actual power change depends on the engine, original intake design and other modifications. The potential benefit is generally more relevant where engine airflow demand has increased through tuning or further performance upgrades.
Do I need ECU tuning after installing a PRORAM intake?
Not necessarily. Many vehicle-specific intake systems can be fitted without ECU calibration. Tuning becomes more relevant when the intake forms part of a larger performance package or the engine has been modified to require substantially greater airflow.
How do I choose the correct PRORAM universal filter?
Match the filter's specified neck diameter to your intake pipe or MAF housing, then check overall filter dimensions and available installation space. The filter also needs to be mounted securely and positioned with appropriate consideration for engine-bay heat and cool-air supply.
Can PRORAM universal filters fit any car?
They are universal by dimension rather than guaranteed vehicle fitment. A filter can be used where its inlet size, physical dimensions and mounting design suit the intake system being built.
Are PRORAM filters washable and reusable?
PRORAM performance filters are designed to be serviced rather than treated as disposable paper elements. Use the appropriate filter maintenance products and follow the maintenance procedure specified for the filter.
Why do PRORAM intake kits use heat shields?
Where supplied, the heat shield creates a physical barrier between the filter and hotter areas of the engine bay. Managing intake-air temperature is important because an exposed performance filter should have access to cool air rather than simply drawing heated under-bonnet air.
Should I choose PRORAM or a replacement panel filter?
If you want to retain the complete factory airbox and make the simplest filtration upgrade, a direct-fit replacement filter may be the better option. PRORAM becomes particularly attractive when you want a complete induction system, stronger intake sound or a universal filter for a custom intake installation.
