Symptoms and fault codes

A cracked or leaking accumulator mounting can prevent the mechatronics from maintaining the hydraulic pressure needed to operate the gearbox. Symptoms can include:

• Loss of drive or failure to engage a forward gear.
• Loss of reverse or failure to engage reverse.
• A gearbox warning message or flashing gear-position display.
• P17BF: hydraulic pump play protection / overload protection.
• P189C: function restriction due to insufficient pressure build-up.

These codes identify a hydraulic-pressure problem; the repair applies when the accumulator or its mounting is the source of that pressure loss.

How the repair works

The original gas-filled accumulator stores hydraulic pressure for the mechatronics. Fatigue and cracking around its mounting can allow pressure to escape. More extensive failure can also damage the mechatronic oil pan or side cover.

The repair assembly replaces the original accumulator arrangement with a reinforced steel, double-wall design and supporting adapter. It provides a repair route for the damaged accumulator mounting, including applicable threaded-mounting failures, without replacing the complete hydraulic plate.

Fitment and installation

For the DQ200 7-speed dry-clutch DSG / S tronic transmission family, including 0AM and 0CW, used in selected Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda models. The transmission fitted to the vehicle determines compatibility.

Professional fitting with the specialist accumulator tool is recommended. A damaged oil pan or side cover can be replaced at the same time using the optional parts above.
