VW Caddy 2.0 TDI Low Pressure EGR Blanking and Cooler Delete Kit with ECU Tuning Options
Volkswagen Caddy low-pressure EGR cooler delete kit
The Darkside Developments DSD3693 kit removes the specified EGR cooler and blanks the low-pressure recirculation circuit. A coolant bypass maintains the connection after cooler removal.
EGR faults, coolant loss and poor running
EGR-related problems can present as hesitation, uneven idle, reduced power, an engine warning light or limp mode. A leaking cooler can also cause unexplained coolant loss.
These symptoms help identify what needs investigating. The repair or modification must address the affected circuit: blanking a passage does not resolve unrelated wiring, sensor or cooling-system faults.
High-pressure EGR and DPF configuration
The high-pressure EGR valve remains physically fitted. Darkside recommends switching its operation off through the ECU calibration.
DPF configuration: Darkside does not recommend installing this kit with the diesel particulate filter retained.
Scope of delivery:
- 1x Silicone bung and securing clamp
- 1x Low-pressure EGR blanking plate, supplied with gasket and clamp
- 1x Stainless-steel coolant bypass pipe with securing clamps
Complete the modification with ECU tuning
The hardware changes must be matched by suitable ECU calibration. Without the required software changes, the ECU can detect unexpected EGR flow and trigger an emissions warning light, fault codes or limp mode.
If your vehicle still needs this calibration, select the optional mail-in ECU tuning service when ordering. This requires you to send your engine ECU to us. Customers with suitable software already installed can purchase the hardware separately.
For installation and tuning at our Sunshine Coast workshop, request an ECU tuning and installation quote. Include your engine code, existing modifications and intended exhaust configuration. We can also assess a performance remap alongside the EGR software work.
Remove existing intake deposits
Changing EGR operation does not clean soot and oily carbon already accumulated in the inlet manifold. Where deposits restrict airflow, intake cleaning addresses the existing buildup.
Euro Car Electronics offers intake cleaning, including ultrasonic cleaning for suitable removed components. Ask us to assess this alongside installation and tuning.
For more information about the hardware and software involved, read our EGR delete guide.
Frequently asked questions
Does this suit an Australian Caddy TDI250?
Australian Caddy TDI250 models were supplied with the DFSD engine. Confirm the engine code and existing cooler reference against the fitting note, as the TDI250 badge was also used with other engines.
Is ECU tuning included?
ECU tuning is included only when purchased through the optional tuning service. Mail-in tuning requires your engine ECU; vehicle installation and workshop tuning are arranged separately.
Can a performance remap be arranged at the same time?
Yes. Include your current modifications and performance goals in the tuning enquiry so the calibration can be assessed as one package.
Will this clean the intake or resolve every EGR fault?
Existing intake deposits require separate cleaning. Diagnosis also needs to identify whether the reported fault concerns the cooler, valve, wiring or another component.
Please Note: For off-road and competition applications where legally permitted. Removing or disabling emissions-control equipment can make a vehicle illegal for public-road use. The owner is responsible for compliance with applicable laws; off-road use is not an automatic exemption.
